He says he spoke to Tim after some Yngwie show and he's cool with him although Tim's ego is bruised. Says if Tim had been 100% into IE he'd never have been booted out.
Not a lot else.

Hahaha Shafter. Very nice Laughing

Tim should've blew him off. Jon doesn't control his bankroll anymore, so there's really no reason for him to kiss Jon's ass at all. He clearly is still tiffed over the whole thing, which I think is justified. And Schaffer needs to shut the fuck up in regards to Tim not being involved enough. Jon is an over-controlling maniac, so if someone in his band has any disassociation with the material, its his own damn fault. Plus he's got his side-projects like Demons and Wizards and his new right-wing propaganda project, so why in the hell couldn't Tim have his side projects? The only ego bruised was Jon's because he took a talented singer like Tim and threw a hissy fit when he couldn't keep him all for himself.

Good points there. Sounds Similar to Jason Newstead Ex Bass Player for Metallica, he wanted to do some side project to keep him busy, as Metallica only release a new album every 4 or 5 years. And he got told no. Lars is a complete arse.

I even recall Dave Mustaine in an interview once, saying the band did think about kicking Lars out, then the Dave thing happened. I'm glad they fired Dave, we would never of got Megadeth. Who in my opinion are a far better band, better songs, more talent etc.

For Jon to say Tim's ego is bruised just shows what a total arse he is.

His ego wasn't bruised. Jon just outright insulted him. When someone smacks you from behind like that, it has to be a little embarrassing and hard on the ego. But it mostly pisses you off. It makes you not like the person and avoid them or talking to them or about them.

Truth is that Jon isn't sidetracked by his other projects. He does those when IE isn't actively writing, recording or touring, thus on his own time. I've been following Iced Earth for 12 years, and I've never read anything from Jon that's sugar-coated to protect anyone's feelings. I love that about him. I don't disbelieve his feeling that Tim wasn't 100% committed to IE, for whatever reason.

As far as him mentioning Tim, it's going to happen as long as people continue to ask him about it.

I agree that Jon's main thing is and always has been Iced Earth. But when Tim was in the band, Beyond Fear was secondary to Iced Earth as well. He did the Beyond Fear album when IE was on their down time. It was after the European tour was cancelled. In fact, I recall when he was doing press for Beyond Fear, Tim said once Jon's ready to record the next IE album, he'll put Beyond Fear on hold because it will be Iced Earth all the time (i.e. recording, press, touring).

I don't think anyone disputes that Jon really believes that Tim was as committed to Iced Earth as he would have liked. I think where some people take issue is that Jon has two projects outside of Iced Earth, so why couldn't Tim do the same? Especially since he was doing it while IE was dormant.

I quite liked Crucible. It's one of my favorite IE albums. Now that Iced Earth isn't constrained by the Something Wicked story, I'm eager to see what they do next. I felt that Jon Schaffer's writing took a big leap forward with The Glorious Burden (and has continued to be very good since), so I think the next album should be killer!
