I really can`t see Maiden hanging up their boots? At a time when they have such a massive rabid fanbase and remain as popular as ever. I really hope not, PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee

No way.
Maiden are as popular as they ever were and they still have the energy (and money) to put on the best live show in metal.
I don't know how many records they're selling. I haven't bought any of their latest stuff. Seems like they must be making their money from merchandise and touring. _________________

I hope not IRON MAIDEN is METAL!!!
I think the only way they would hang there BOOTS up is when one of this Metal LEGENDS passes away...
Well probably except for Janick Gers... |

I can't see it either. I recall Nicko saying something about 7 or 8 years ago about how he was getting too old to play so much all the time. He suggested he might give it up after another 5 years or something.
That worried me when the 5 years was up, but it looks like they won't be stopping any time soon.
The problem is, even though Nicko is "only" a drummer, he's such a big character in Maiden, I don't think they would carry on the same if he chucked it. _________________ Xeper

i've been a Maiden fan for roughly 20 years. and have seen them live a couple of times. once with bruce and once with blaze. even have autographed xfactor album with all the band signing it. that was an instore signing in hmv in 1995 when the album came out. great day.
i do hope its not their final album. after a look on wikipedia (as i wasnt sure of their ages): the boys are down as:
Bruce Dickinson - 51
Dave Murray - 53
Janick Gers - 53
Adrian Smith - 53
Steve Harris - 53 (getting a pattern lol)
Nicko Mcbrain - 57
I know at some point they will call it a day...that will be a sad day when it finally happens...but i can imagine they will all be playing music till they are sent out in their boxes |

First saw Maiden in 1980 before they became global superstars...sitting on stage less than 5 feet away!
Then saw them in 1983 and 1984, in 84 I got married on a Saturday and saw Maiden on a Sunday evening with my new found love.
It was my honeymoon as I bought the tickets way before my wife fell to my charms after a shotgun wedding.
However we had been engaged for a year and I had been courting her for about 3 to 4 years anyway.
It was on the cards but I had my wicked way in the middle of summer with intense heat after a session in my local boozer.
Hence we had to plan everything in a short space of time, when we saw Maiden front row I got a little worried as the sound was so loud the baby was rattling with decibals.
Great honeymoon, still married, Amy is now 25 years and Lauren 20 years, and a grandaughter Abi 3 years and a baby boy on the way in June. Rock n Roll, PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee

Great story.
I took my wife to see Ozzy when she was six months pregnant. It was general admission on the floor, so she couldn't even sit down. _________________

Yes my wife still likes Maiden and they are probably along with a couple of other bands here fave HM bands. However over the course of time she kinda grew out of the metal stuff!!!
None of my siblings like metal, shame. PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee

Steve did say at some point that Maiden would record 15 studio album and then that would be it...so who knows...Maybe they'll just tour after this...
Gotta say Bruce has lost a bit of his voice already so maybe he doesn't want to go on for very long...it's not like he has the same kind of durable voice as Ronnie James Dio has....
Great story indeed Powerknight! _________________

I kind of agree with you CHARGER but not really
In my opinion Bruce sounds better live now than ever.
At least in the flight 666 he sounds amazing.
And if you listen to Live in Donnington , Live after death in my opinion he dosnt sound so good. Rock in Rio hes sounds better but in Flight 666 he sounds awsome. |

| Maiden hasnt put out a really good record since the 80s,thats a loooong time! Not looking forward at all on this one.Got duped into buying Dance of death(totally gay!!),wouldnt touch the last one with a 20ft pole, with songs all 10 min.long, and titles like:The great life and times of Benjamin Button,or some dumb garbage like that???These guys are horrible, and so out of touch now,its only worth seeing them play their older material.Even then,I cringe at the thought of Bruce Bruce doing Sanctuary!DiAnno was the man, back then!Last good(acceptable)Maiden record was 7th son. |

WTF? Their last three albums have been quite good. In fact, I'd put Brave New World in my top 3 Maiden albums. _________________ Follow me on Facebook:
