The forthcoming solo album from PRIMAL FEAR singer Ralf Scheepers is in the very final stages of production. Several very special guests appear on the effort, including "Metal" Mike Chlasciak (HALFORD), Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY), Sander Gommans (AFTER FOREVER) and Magnus Karlsson (PRIMAL FEAR, ALLEN/LANDE). Powerhouse American vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) duets with Scheepers in the track "Remission Of Sin", Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw (THERION, DREAM EVIL, KING DIAMOND, DIMMU BORGIR) appears on drums and PRIMAL FEAR's Mat Sinner plays bass on the entire LP in addition to having produced the album. Achim Köhler (PRIMAL FEAR, AMON AMARTH, BRAINSTORM) is currently mixing the effort for a February 2011 release via Frontiers Records.

In an interview with the "Metalzone" radio show (web site) with Kostas Purevil Kyriakakis and Helena Mihailidou, Scheepers revealed that his upcoming solo album will include two cover versions — "Saints Of Rock" from Scheepers' pre-PRIMAL FEAR band TYRAN PACE and "Before The Dawn' from JUDAS PRIEST. "'Saints Of Rock' is gonna be, of course, a little bit more modern than it was [when the original version was recorded] in 1986," he explained. "I mean, right now we have much more possibilities to make songs sound a little bit more modern, starting with the drum sound and the bass sounds." He added, "I think 'Before The Dawn' pretty much is a straight cover, but the first song I'm playing (nearly) all instruments — just a little more orchestral things going on. Vocal-wise, I just added a harmony vocals, plus the two outstanding guitar solos by maestro Victor Smolski.

"The album is like a trip through my entire career from hard-driven crushing metal, groovy heavy beats, orchestral epic to stripped down basic songs and, of course, some nice surprises!"

PRIMAL FEAR recently released a new live DVD, "16.6 - All Over The World" (recorded in various locations between September and November 2009), and a live CD, aptly titled "Live In The USA". Frontiers Records issued the two products separately and as a limited-edition combo on June 22 in the USA.

I'm looking forward to this.

I like Primal Fear a lot, so I'm curious to see how Ralf's solo stuff compares.

This sounds pretty freakin bad ass... I wonder why they chose to do Before the Dawn though? It's a ballad nonetheless... I think Ralf should've tried Beyond the Realms or Blood Red Skies.... that would have been EPIC

What? Before the Dawn? Aww, no...

I missed that first time I read it. Of all the songs they could've picked, why that one? It just might be the suckiest song Priest ever wrote. Sad

That totally sucks. Seriously.

Before the Dawn is a great song. Not sure what the complaint is about.

Agreed its one of there best ballads. Priest has other songs that are way worst.

Personally I hate Grinder and it pisses me off that Tim always plays that song. When he can sing a lot of other priest songs.

I don't hate Before the Dawn, I just think there are better songs that suit Ralf, it's not my favorite ballad by Priest, though, I think if Ralf was gonna do a ballad he should've done Dreamer Deceiver... that would be something Very Happy

I don't think Priest has ever written a good Ballad...

The only ones I even bother listening are on Demolition...they're not bad at all...but virtually all the rest...suck.

I think Night Comes Down, Evening Star and Dreamer Deceiver were my favorites, I think the songwriting was much better than some of the songs on Demolition (not all of course Razz )

Night Comes Down is not really a ballad...not in my book anyways..
Dreamer Deceiver is the worst song on the Sad Vings Of Destiny...Evening Star...hell I don't even remember which album it's on...

Wow man.... gotta say, totally disagree lol, I think Dreamer Deceiver and Deceiver were the best songs off Sad Wings, and Evening Star was off Killing Machine, which was one of my fave songs off the album, Night Comes Down kind of has a Whitesnake feel to it which is cool, Worth Fighting For is another really underrated ballad along with Lost Love from Nostradamus Cool
