After storming the world for nearly 40 years and taking its very special brand of heavy metal to all four corners of the planet, JUDAS PRIEST — one of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time — has announced plans to embark on a final world tour. However, the mighty PRIEST will certainly be going out strong as they rock the planet starting in 2011 on the massive "Epitaph" tour — hitting all the major cities throughout the world where they will be playing the songs that helped make the name JUDAS PRIEST synonymous with heavy metal!
With all guns blazing and amps cranked to eleven, the band will be giving all its fans one last chance to witness the ultimate metal experience that is JUDAS PRIEST!
JUDAS PRIEST will be starting its world tour in Europe and has just confirmed the following festivals for 2011:
Jun. 09 - Sweden Rock Festival, Sölvesborg, Sweden
Jun. 11 - Sauna Open Air, Tampere, Finland
Jun. 17 - Copenhell, Copenhagen, Denmark
Jun. 19 - Hellfest, Clisson, France
Jun. 22 - Gods of Metal, Milan, Italy
Jun. 25 - Graspop Metal Meeting, Dessel, Belgium
Jul. 23 - High Voltage, London, UK
Aug. 05 - Wacken Open Air, Wacken, Germany
JUDAS PRIEST was honored in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards, which was held on January 31, 2010 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. PRIEST was nominated for the track "Dissident Aggressor", from the band's 2009 live album "A Touch of Evil: Live". Singer Rob Halford and the band's drummer, Scott Travis, accepted the award at the event.

Just had this come on Facebook too...kind of sad, but I suppose it's Rob's call...Maybe he has noticed that he can't do justice to all of the songs anymore and would rather call it quits before it gets really bad...I don't know.
This kind of came bit suddenly though....I was under the impression they had big plans for the future... _________________

I doubt it's Rob's call. I bet he'll continue with his solo stuff after.
Sad day indeed. Glad I'll get to see them one more time. _________________

sorry, but I have to disagree... Rob's voice is in much better shape now than it was on Nostradamus and AOR, he stopped smoking which helped a hell of a lot. I really hope they are doing what everyone else did and keeps touring after... disappointing that I'm in the wrong generation for heavy metal... COME ON PRIEST WHAT THE HELL......... they better at least put out one more album... _________________

Who thinks even though they say this is their final tour, they MIGHT come out of retirement every so often for a show.
The chances of Tim going back to Priest are very unlikely in my book, he is off doing his own thing, and its about Time people who have no idea who Beyond Fear is, learn how good they really are! Who knows with the right backing the could be the new Priest! |

Very true Metalus!! I was just thinking of how there are no really other metal bands surviving (Except Iron Maiden and Accept, and a couple others). I believe Beyond Fear will come on strong as one of the best new bands (But will be my favorite of course ). I hope Priest means they are just done with the huge world tours, but I do hope they do a couple shows/festivals in the future... if not another album... LOL wishful thinking... _________________

Yeah I seriously doubt they are over.
What Beyond Fear needs is to get good opening show!! For more exposure
I love Beyond Fear !!!!! Cant wait!!! But I have to admit its going to be very tough for them to top the First album!! I just hope Tim does a lot of wailing and screaming on this one!!! Hope its not as mellow as Play My Game. ( I know PMG isnt really mellow but compared to the BF cd it is ) |

They've stated Tim will never open for Priest, as it is demeaning (obviously festivals are different). _________________

Wait, huh? I'm not sure you read correct. Priest have stated they would NEVER have Tim or any of his bands open for them on a tour. Obviously if they're booked at festivals with dozens of acts, its happenstance (i.e. when Yngwie played before Priest a few years back at a festival). _________________

i can see how that is understandable because it would look like the ultimate kick in the ass to have your former singer opening for you....would appear demeaning to some people _________________ The bass player/vocalist for In Through the Out Door and the bass player/backup vokills for Die Deader |

oh damn... haahha read that one a bit wrong I saw Tim and Priest in the same sentence and got pretty fuckin excited that blows though... they probably don't want to contrast Rip's screams to Rob's screams.... lol, he puts Halford to shame as of right now anyways, and I think Priest realizes that _________________
