That was definitely the peak of the band and a great performance. _________________

Even though it was in support of arguably their worst album, the stage show and performance kicked ass! _________________

Arguably. I've always loved Turbo.
Remember Nostradamus? THAT was their worst album. _________________

I hope you're right! If I'm lucky enough to see the Metal Gods one last time, I want it to be huge. _________________

I was able to catch that Turbo tour live. It was very cool in person, that is for sure. _________________

Wow.... that's incredible... how was the pyro? I saw the videos and it looked insane... I wonder why they did such a big stage show for that year and not any other?? _________________

That was the peak of the band's success, when they were selling the most records and drawing the biggest crowds to their shows. After that, things went downhill.
It was after that tour, I think, that Rob had his meltdown and ended up in the hospital. Much of the wind was taken out of the band's sails then. They didn't really do anything for a long time after that. They put out the Priest... Live record, then Ram It Down, which was just a bunch of leftover tracks from Turbo.
They got their shit together long enough to put out Painkiller, which was a great success, but the band fell apart immediately after.
Everything since that Fuel for Life tour has been very cautious. No more pyro, no more huge stages, no more spontaneous songwriting. There were years between records. Everything has been very carefully planned and calculated to be safe. The band's management keeps a very, very tight leash. _________________

It seems that those big stage shows were very 80's thing...none of the big bands do them anymore....Maiden in some degree, but even they have tuned it down quite a bit.
But then again I for one don't give a shit about the stage set as long as the music kicks ass....
I believe that the reason for the tuned down stage sets is the increased need for security on venues...especially here in the EU...everything needs to be so so so safe. _________________

just a thought you never know on the final tours shows, a huge pyro might go off and ripper might come flying out the stage and be shooted up into the air screaming his head off...not rally...but would be good |

I think the reason bands don't do it anymore is because of people not going to the shows like they use to. Because of fucking idiots who are to cheap to buy a 20 dollar cd and they rather steal it or by it on itunes for 9 dollars. |

Well we all know KISS puts on a hell of a show... i've seen them twice the past 2 years and they kicked ass with all the pyro and their stage show... so it is possible... but I think it's KISS' way of making up for their slacking musical talent... I just don't think any other bands want to put in that much effort! _________________
