Hey, yesterday, I watched Classic Albums, a show on VH1 Classic. They were interviewing JP about the British Steel album. This interview was done while Tim was still in the band. They interviewed Rob, too. It is pretty cool. They told the story of how they came up with some of the unique sounds on that album. They recorded the album in a house, formally owned by Ringo Starr. If you can find it on their, watch it, it is a good episode.

Yeh, I have seen this and it`s very interesting stuff, although personally I wouldn`t go for British Steel as their finest! PowerKnight Twisted Evil

British Steel laid the foundation for what JP is. I don't think it is their best, either, but it has some kick ass tracks on it. I wish they would have interviewed Tim on that. I would have liked to hear his take on British Steel, at that time.

That be taken as both a blessing and a curse. Although Priest had already changed with Killing Machine, British Steel gave them success with the new formula and essentially told them that they needn't revisit the style of the 70's. I know that Priest were proprietors of changing with the times and especially the decade but if British Steel were not such a great success, they may have reverted back to the complexity and ingenuity of The Three S's.

That said, I love absolutely everything Priest has ever done and am thankful for that evolution.

I have the DVD, too.

British Steel is the album that broke them into the big time and the one that pushed metal into the big time. It's hard to compare Priest albums, because each one has such a unique sound. I can't really pick a favourite JP record, but this is among the best for sure.

I agree, JP albums do not sound alike. The two that do sound very similar, to me, are Screaming and Defenders. But even then, they are unique.

Yeah SFV and DOTF are the only albums that follow a somewhat similar structure but then you get into the songs themselves and they are two very distinct records.

On the same hand, in ten-to-fifteen years I would love a "classic albums" program on Jugulator.

Course, I want it now. But the album may be considered more of a cult classic in another ten years?
