So I just got my Relentless Copy and so far so Good.
I like the mix a lot better than The Perpetual Flame album.
The only complaint I have is that it doesn't have enough Ripper on it.
The CD has 15 tracks and out of those 8 are instrumental which is kind of understandable since its Malmsteen. Ripper only sings on 6 and once again Malmsteen ruins what could be a very good song (Look at You Now) by doing vocals.

With all that said I still like Perpetual Flame a lot better. Maybe the more I listen the more I will Like it

Well, I put Relentless on my iPod before I went to work listened to it all day and I'm really impressed with this CD. I know when Perpetual Flame came out I was really ecstatic about it and after looking back it's a great album but it's not up there with Trilogy or Seventh Sign & Magnum Opus. Mainly due to the mix of some songs and a few were too cheesy like Red Devil. I'm a huge Yngwie fan always have been and I been following his music since the 80's and this is in my opinion the heaviest, most aggressive music he's ever put out.

I have 2 complaints, first being Look At You Now with Yngwie on vocals. Everyone knows he's a great guitar playing so still with what you do best. Magic City on Perpetual Flame was good but this is laughable. My second complaint is where the fuck is Ripper at? I mean, when I saw the cover didn't say Rising Force I had a feeling there was gonna be more instrumentals but this is crazy. I love instrumental music but Ripper kicks major ass on this album, the vocals are awesome on Critical Mass, Enemy Within, Blinded and Tide of Desire. The fact that there wasn't more songs with Ripper singing is what for me stops this from being my favorite Yngwie cd. I can't tell you how many times I listened to Critical Mass & Enemy Within.

If anyone has any doubts about getting this don't it's unrelenting in it's virtuosity yes but it's done by the best. If you took Critical Mass, Enemy Within, Tide of Desire, Blinded, Death Dealer, Damnation Game, Live To Fight (Another Day), Eleventh Hour, Four Horsemen (Of The Apocalypse), Be Careful What You Wish For, Caprici Di Diablo, Relentless, Knight of the Vasa Order then you would have the greatest cd he ever made. It's just to bad some of these songs weren't on Perpetual Flame.

Yngwie said last week in an interview that we should expect a Live DVD from this new line up and album. I can't wait cause last year Ripper was amazing as was Yngwie but it was the first time any singer I've seen in his line up take away my attention from his fretwork.

Yeah I noticed that after I posted it but figured most people on this forum probably don't care much for Yngwie's instrumentals. LOL Anyways, I am really looking forward to seeing them tour next year. Hope the DVD they do has alot of new material from the last 2 albums and some of his signature classics.

As a Swede, I can't help but laugh at the title "Knight of the Vasa order". Very Happy

I'm yet to pick uo the album, I intend to do that when I get home tomorrow. I have heard Critical Mass though, and it's good.

Just listened to Relentless CD. It's good, really good, but nearly all these songs sound a little incomplete, like Yngwie had no time to carry them through. Another sound very similar to Yngwie's last tunes, e.g. "Look At You Now" -> Live To Fight. However, Relentless is a good work made by true professionals.

BTW Enemy Within is my fav. True metal song! It's aggressive enough so Tim's voice fits this perfectly Very Happy

Yngwie is pioneer and innovator!
Neoclassical clean-picking hot damn electric guitar virtuoso, share genius.
The only problem is that he only sticks to the same pattern over and over again.

I was practicing my modes and realized that Yngwie plays lotta of licks that are outside of the Phrygian mode.
Examples are like Black Star, Evil Eye, far from the sun and basically everything.
The same goes with the song pattern.

Live to fight another day, rising force, I'm a viking and so forth all these songs are present in all of his albums
just a fraction of a small alternation are done to make 'em into different songs.
Don't get me wrong I love to crank up my Marshall and play along Yngwie blazing skills that truly thrills.

It's just that every album since Fire and Ice just sound way to familiar and it gets repetitive and plain boring.

Ripper on the other hand never stops amazing me, the share power in his voice is moving.
Too bad he only gotto holler on 8 tracks.

Cut down on solos, a good producer and co-writer would do wonders for Yngwie and foremost give the respectful spot Tim "Ripper" Owens deserves.

Pardon my gramma I'm Swedish... Embarassed
